The steeple clock of the Lexington Presbyterian Church is displaying the correct time for the first time in about six months.
“Now, everyone in Lexington will know what time it is,” quipped Mike Strickler of the church’s property committee that took action to get the clock fixed.
Strickler explained that the clock stopped working in March when the switch to daylight savings time was made.
“We first had to find someone locally who could disassemble the various mechanisms in the upper steeple,” said Strickler. “We finally found Adams Tower Clock Service in Bedford. Don Adams came and disassembled the various arms from the box in the steeple.
“We located the manufacturer in Michigan – National Time & Signal Company. Don worked directly with them. In July, he sent the box to them for repair. Don received the refurbished box last week and installed it today [Thursday, Sept. 18]. The clock started at 2 p.m.”
Time is now moving forward, once again, in downtown Lexington.
