Fire Destroys Barn South Of Lexington

A fire destroyed a barn and two tractors off of U.S. 11 just south of Lexington lastTuesday evening.

According to Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue Chief Nathan Ramsey, at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 9, crews were dispatched to the 1100 block of South Lee Highway for a reported barn fire. The first arriving units, Lexington Fire Department, found the structure fully involved.

Firefighters remained on scene for about two hours working to bring the fire under control. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains undetermined. The barn and two tractors were declared a total loss.

Agencies assisting on scene included Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue, Effinger Fire Department, Natural Bridge Fire Department, Buena Vista Fire Department, Kerrs Creek Fire Department and Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office.
