Applications will open for the city of Buena Vista’s Façade Improvement Grant Program (FIGP) for the FY26 grant year on Monday, Sept. 15.
The program is designed to support local businesses and property owners in enhancing the appearance of commercial and visually blighted properties, promoting a more vibrant and thriving community.
Eligible applicants include property owners and tenants (with property owner approval) within the designated program area, which includes key gateway corridors and business districts. The program provides reimbursement grants covering up to 50 percent of eligible project costs, with a maximum grant of $5,000 per property. Examples of eligible improvements include exterior painting, architectural restoration, lighting enhancements and masonry repairs.
“This program is a great opportunity for property owners and businesses to invest in their buildings and in the future of Buena Vista,” said Kristina Ramsey, director of economic development. “The improvements supported through the FIGP not only enhance individual properties but also contribute to the vitality and attractiveness of our entire community.”
Applications will be accepted from Sept. 15 through Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. All approved projects must be completed by May 29, 2026. In preparation, interested applicants are encouraged to review the FIGP Program Guide on the city website for detailed eligibility criteria, guidelines, and instructions on how to apply.
