Carolyn Bradley, The newly formed “Senior Saints” group at Glasgow Baptist Church spent a day at the Beaver Dam Sunflower Festival on Sept. 10.

Carolyn Bradley attended the annual Collierstown branch of the Nicely clan reunion held at the Palmer Community Center on Aug. 31. The was the second Nicely reunion she attended this summer. The first was a branch of the clan held in August at the Central Advent Christian Church in Alleghany County. The third branch of the Nicely clan will meet on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Douthat State Park. These three groups of descendants are connected by common ancestors from the 1800s. Carolyn grew up in Alleghany County, attending church and school with a number of Nicely kids, but she was in her later years when it was finally discovered how they were all connected. “It’s not your Nicelys, nor my

Nicelys, its ‘our’ Nicelys.” A number of citizens in Rockbridge and Alleghany County can trace their lineage back through the Nicely clan.

Visiting Echols Farm recently were Robert and Dee Dee Scarborough and their daughter Helen, all of New York City. Guests included Lota Jo Mitchell of Pittsburgh, Pa.., Evelyn Showman of Moseley and her daughter and grandson, Ann M. Anderson of Great Falls, and Blanche Wilder of Richmond.

Wells Construction and A.J. Asphalt have just about finished up their work on the water system here in town, as they planted new grass and repaired roadways and driveways that were torn up to install the new pipes. Several private owners paid to have their driveways resealed by the Asphalt Co. while they were in the area.
