DeLaney Dialogues Get Underway

The DeLaney Center at Washington and Lee University is presenting two events on Monday, Sept. 15.

The DeLaney Center hosts DeLaney Dialogues, a series of lunchtime curated exchanges where an accomplished presenter offers insights about a topic linked to Southern race relations, culture, and politics.

The first event of this year features DeLaney Center Postdoctoral Fellow Adrienne Jones from noon until 1 p.m. in Watson Galleries.

Jones will share observations entitled “Trying Not to Make Things Hard: Exploring Transportation Arrangements Among Suspended Drivers.” Her remarks will engage her policy brief, “Suspending Driver’s Licenses due to Outstanding Traffic Citations Increases Financial Stress and Limits Job Opportunities,” which explores North Carolina’s approach to driving privileges and traffic violations. Lunch will be provided.

To create a richer exploration of Dr. Jones’s work, the DeLaney Center will bundle this dialogue with a Reading Club Breakfast that morning from 8 to 9 in The Gin Hotel’s second floor conference room, which will enable participants to read and discuss Jones’ brief before they hear her presentation.
