An Apologia

Quid De Cogitatione?

“When in the of Course of human events, it becomes necessary” to take a stand against would-be tyrants, one “should declare the causes which impel” that stand.

“These truths” are “self-evident, that all” people “are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted…, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed” not privileged oligarchies, kings, or dictators. “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it” by free, honest, and nonviolent elections, “and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness … Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes ... But when a long train of abuses and usurpations … evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to” criticize and vote out “such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of these” ideals, “and such is now the necessity” to demand that this government be restrained.” The history of the present president “is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these” people. “To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

“He has” ignored gubernatorial and mayoral opposition to National Guard troops illegally used for civilian police work, appearing to many a prelude to declare martial law and negate our civil rights. Ironically, he sent a mob of his own supporters to violently attack our Capitol and representatives in an insurrection to overthrow a legitimate election and refused to send the National Guard there to quell that riot.

He pardoned all those convicted for those crimes.

“He has” called on his supporting state governments to pass laws for the gerrymandering of districts to make his opposition voters a minority in elections, revoking their “right of Representation in” Congress, “a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

“He has” ignored judges “for opposing … his invasions on the rights of the people” including the linchpin rights of habeas corpus and due process.

“He has endeavoured” to obstruct “the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners.”

He suggests misappropriating foreign sovereignties, allies Canada and Greenland, and even distant Gaza without their consent.

“He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

“He” demands “Judges dependent on his Will alone,” and calls for those dissenting to be impeached.

“He has erected ... New Offices” such as DOGE “and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

“He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.”

He has kept secret from the American people the discussions he has had with adversary Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and waffles on imposing sanctions, while publicly humiliating ally Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws” by purging anyone publishing facts or figures unflattering to him or failing to display slavish obsequiousness.

“He has imposed Taxes” (Tariffs) “on us without our Consent, deprived” legal residents “of the benefits of Trial by Jury” and transported them “beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences.

“He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us.”

He uses the office of the presidency to enhance his personal wealth.

He has numerous felony convictions and is on tape and video bragging about his sexual conquests.

His political appointees, many media sycophants, are demonstrably, woefully underqualified.

He uses the power of the presidency to withhold the “Epstein Files,” which may implicate him in those crimes.”

In vile acts of vengeance, he has removed federally mandated protection from political opponents and fired government employees who are not in total allegiance to his caprices.

When he speaks using a teleprompter, he muffs words he doesn’t know.

When he’s not using a teleprompter, he goes off into extended non sequiturs worse than any wandering “Sleepy” Joe ever did looking for an exit.

He is a serial, transparent liar and a blustering, vindictive bully who attempts to vilify opponents and critics with childish and insulting nicknames.

He cheats at golf! “A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

“Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our …” brethren citizens who support him. “We appeal “to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjure them … to disavow these usurpations ...

“We, therefore,” Citizens “of the united States of America” loyal to the shared values of our Constitution and the laws passed by our legislatures … solemnly publish and declare,” that our elected officials – Democrats, Republicans, and Independents – must enforce a return to the principles and rule of law stipulated in the United States Constitution and its supporting, legally passed, laws obeyed and serve as a template in their service to the American people.

“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” -I have used Thomas Jefferson’s eloquent apologia for the independence of the colonies as a template for my argument to defend our Constitution. The explanations for his and our heroic Continental Congress’ statement of freedom are direct quotes from their, and our, Declaration of Independence.
