Sept. 10, 1975

In a letter to the editor, Stephen James McCabe of Brownsburg said that someone had stolen his last dollar and a handcrafted leather belt from his locked car parked at Goshen Pass. “I work hard for my money and try to remain honest, yet all I have to show for it is an empty wallet and a loosefitting pair of jeans.” - The regular meeting of the Rockbridge County School Board was moved to the Central School auditorium to accommodate the number of parents expressing concern about the school’s overcrowding issue. -In person-on-the-street interviews in Lexington, The News-Gazette found a number of people with positive, well-informed views on the construction going on in the downtown.

A number of area residents made the trip south to bring equipment and supplies to the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. At least 23 evacuees were temporarily living in the Rockbridge area. -To help manage rising fuel costs, the country’s after school activity buses were pulled from the road.
