27, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: As many have seen, Chris Norris is running for sheriff of Rockbridge County. This is my attempt at highlighting the extraordinary qualities of a humble man!
I went into foster care in seventh grade, five days before Christmas. He collected gifts for me from many people within the community to make sure I would have a good celebration despite the circumstances.
In eighth grade, he was my resource officer in middle school and would check on me often. When he saw me in the community throughout my high school years and beyond, he would smile and take the time to have a conversation with me! He has a way of pouring goodness out in a seemingly hopeless situation.
I trust him as my sheriff, and I know we will be protected under his fair and watchful leadership. I think he is a man who will respect his fellow officers, as well as all Rockbridge Countians from every walk of life. I can truthfully and proudly say he is loyal to uplift those in need.
