Poem Reminds Reader Of Trump

Aug. 27, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: A poem named “The Second Coming” by W.B. Yeats, actually forewarned us of the “coming” of Donald Trump: “Things fall apart: the Centre cannot hold; ... Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world.

... the worst are full of passionate intensity.

... Surely the Second Coming is at hand … A shape with lion body and the head of a man is moving ... now I know that twenty centuries of stony sleep were vexed to nightmare. And what rough beast, it’s hour come round at last, SLOUCHES TOWARD BETHLEHEM TO BE BORN?”

The beast is here, under presidential title, and wields his tremendous evil upon the world. RACHEL JOHNSON Rockbridge County
