2025 Candidate For Lexington Commissioner Of Revenue

Glass Commits To Being Responsive, Transparent

Kelly Glass is a lifelong resident of Rockbridge County. She was born and raised in the Rockbridge Baths area and graduated from Rockbridge County High School in 2004. She moved to Lexington in 2007 and is “proud” to call the city her home.

“My family and I love being part of this community and taking in everything it has to offer,” she told The News-Gazette. “You’ll often see us at local events, cheering at sporting games, or spending time together at the pool and playground. Lexington isn’t just where we live – it’s where we make memories.”

Glass is running for the position of commissioner of revenue for the city of Lexington. She has served in the Rockbridge County commissioner of revenue’s office since January 2020 and currently serves as the office’s chief deputy. She has more than 20 years of experience in customer service – including over a decade at Kendal at Lexington – and says that she has “always been committed to serving others.” She is also an active member of the West Central Deputy Commissioner of Revenue Association and has served as that organization’s program chair for the past two years.

“When Karen Roundy decided she was not seeking re-election, I saw this as an opportunity to continue serving our community in a role I am passionate about,” she said. “Providing professional and reliable services to the residents of Rockbridge County has been rewarding and I look forward to bringing that same work ethic to the residents of the city of Lexington.”

As commissioner of revenue, Glass would be the chief-tax assessing official for the city of Lexington. The commissioner and their deputies are responsible for assessing the various taxes paid by residents and businesses, including real estate taxes, personal and business property taxes, meals and lodging taxes and business license taxes. They also assist with state income tax filings and estimated payments.

“As commissioner, I will ensure that tax laws are fairly and effectively administered, while providing courteous, professional, and knowledgeable service to citizens,” she said. “I’ve spent my career serving our community and I value honesty, transparency, and accountability. I approach challenges by listening, analyzing, and taking thoughtful action. I am committed to being accessible and responsive, so residents always feel heard and supported. Through collaboration, integrity, and dedication I will serve Lexington City with leadership you can trust.”
