Democrats have a new candidate challenging Republican Del. Terry Austin of the 37th District, which encompasses Buena Vista, Lexington and southern Rockbridge County.
Andrew Hartless, 22, of Lexington, has been nominated by House District 37 Democrats. He takes the place of Sharron Burgess, who had to withdraw as a candidate due to an injury.
, page 4 Hartless is a 2020 graduate of Rockbridge County High School and a 2025 graduate of Mountain Gateway Community College, where he studied information technology. He has worked at Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute. He is currently the assistant director of the VMI Theater in which he has acted in a number of plays. He is an advocate for pediatric liver transplant patients.
