Happy birthday wishes are being sent to Laikyn Willow Terrell and Conner Robertson. Happy anniversary to Mickey and Suzi Berry. Better health prayers for Mabel Berry, Richard Smith and Tyler Clem.
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Patsy Lee Clark.
This week will be a bittersweet week for the community as Shirley Steele Walker will be moving with her sister, Lou, to Greensboro, N.C. This is a new chapter for both of these ladies but Shirley will be missed, not only in our community but at White’s Travel Center.
This Thursday, Aug. 28, I will be having another benefit yard sale starting at 8 a.m. This one is for Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church in Waynesboro. They will be going to Boone, N.C., in October to help with rebuilding. There are still a lot of people living in tents there. For more information, call the number above.
The Vesuvius Community Day (formerly Vesuvius Heritage Day) will be Saturday, Sept. 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
I pray that everyone will have a fun and safe Labor Day. Please pay attention if you are driving during this time. Blessings to everyone!
Glasgow

The Glasgow Farmers’ Market is officially closed for the season largely due to the lack of vendors. Serious health issues among the established vendors and other issues have contributed to the decline. We had a good run for about eight years, and perhaps it will reestablish in the future. Sam Graham, with WFXR 27, Roanoke, came to the market and did a feature on our closing.
The town of Glasgow is in the process of acquiring the former Presbyterian Church property and will be creating a Town Square. Plans are to hold Town Council meetings there in the near future.
