The Relay For Life of Rockbridge County is encouraging area residents to purchase luminaries for the Sept. 6 event.
One of the most powerful moments of the evening will be the Luminaria Ceremony, when hundreds of glowing bags, each representing someone affected by cancer, will light the track and the Hill of Hope. Luminarias honor survivors, remember loved ones, and offer hope for the future. This year’s luminaria ceremony will be held at 8 p.m.
Luminarias can be purchased in advance for $10, with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society’s research, patient services, and prevention programs.

The Relay for Life ceremony will be held at Central Elementary School from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 6.
