Several local fire and rescue crews responded to a house fire off Forge Road Friday morning that resulted in major damage.
According to Capt. T.J. Robertson, who was the incident commander, a report of a structure fire on Charity Lane came in around 9 Friday morning. Upon arriving on scene, Robertson confirmed that heavy smoke was coming from both eaves of the house and he found fire burning between the basement and first floor of the house while doing a walk around of the house.
Fire crews from Lexington, Buena Vista and Glasgow fought the fire under command of Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue. Buena Vista Rescue Squad also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported in or during the incident.
The fire was extinguished, but the house suffered major damage from the fire, smoke and water.
