Faith Baptist Church will have a clothes closet on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A men’s prayer breakfast will take place on Aug. 20 at 8 a.m.
At St. John’s Episcopal Church this past Sunday, the Liturgy of the Word service was led by the Rev. Deacon Linda Ricker. Many thanks to her for leading the service, and to Bert Buford and Josh Gardner for providing music.
On Thursday Aug. 7, Master Sgt. Kevin A. Williams of Laurel, Md., son of Ron and Thelma Williams of Concord, N.C., formerly of Arnolds Valley and Buena Vista respectively, was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. Kevin was a 1983 graduate of Parry McCluer High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1984 and served 25 and a half years. After retiring from the USAF, he then spent his remaining years working as a training instructor for casualty affairs for the United States Army at Fort Meade in Maryland. Kevin was 60 years old.
