Relay For Life Planning Continues

The Relay For Life of Rockbridge County is calling on the community to unite in the fight against cancer. This year’s Relay will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, and the planning committee is inviting everyone to get involved by joining a team, becoming a sponsor, or volunteering.

The next planning meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. at Frank’s Pizza in Lexington. All are welcome to attend, learn more about the event, and find out how they can participate in this year’s celebration of survivors, remembrance of loved ones, and commitment to a cancer-free future. The Relay For Life of Rockbridge County also invites all cancer survivors and their caregivers to take part in this year’s event, which will be held at Central Elementary School.

The event will begin with the Survivors Lap, a moving tradition where survivors walk the first lap together, cheered on by friends, family, and supporters. This lap is a symbol of hope, courage, and the power of community.

“Cancer survivors are the heart of Relay For Life,” said Robin Moore, event chair for Relay For Life of Rockbridge County. “Whether you were diagnosed decades ago or just recently, your journey matters. We want to walk alongside you, celebrate your milestones, and let you know that you are never alone.”

All survivors who register will receive a special t-shirt and are invited to attend the Survivor Reception, where light refreshments, fellowship, and recognition will be shared. Registration is free and open now at www.relayforlife. org/rockbridgeva.
