County Burglary Suspect Arrested

The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office last week made an arrest in a burglary on Blue Grass Trail in which approximately $15,000 worth of property was reported stolen.

The burglary, which occurred in the 3600 block of Blue Grass Trail, was reported to the sheriff’s office on Friday, July 25. As a result of the investigation, Dustin Travis Johnson Sr., 40, of Lexington, was taken into custody on July 28 and charged with two felonies: one count of breaking and entering and one count of grand larceny.

He is currently being held without bond in Rockbridge Regional Jail.

“Our deputies acted quickly and thoroughly to identify and apprehend the suspect in this case,” Sheriff Tony McFaddin said in a press release last Thursday.

The release also stated that the investigation is ongoing and Johnson may be facing additional charges. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (540) 4637328.

A preliminary hearing on the breaking and entering and larceny charges is scheduled for Sept. 24 in Rockbridge County General District Court.
