Aug. 6, 1975

The Palm Parlor, an ice cream café with a turn-ofthe- 20th-century vibe, opened its doors at the corner of Jefferson and Nelson Streets. -A high speed chase by two Rockbridge county law enforcement officials resulted in the capture of an Ohio man who obtained gasoline at Coffey’s Sunoco on U.S. 11 south of Lexington and then left the station without paying. The petit larceny charge was dismissed after he paid the $11.50 due the station. - McCormick’s Farm was the setting for a farm conference attended by 1,000 local farmers, as well as Secretary of Agriculture Earl Butz and Sixth District Rep. M. Caldwell Butler, who cosponsored the event.

The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to spend $10,000 a year over the next five years on the indoor pool planned by Friends of Rockbridge Swimming.

- The Rockbridge SPCA published a cookbook, “Noses and Tails.” The over 200 recipes were contributed by SPCA members and Rockbridge County residents. - After closing her upscale restaurant Sweet Magnolia’s, Michelle Stump opened another eatery with more casual fare called Muggs Taproom and Pizzaria.
