Sending birthday wishes to Abby DeGroot and to my sister-in-law Christyna Moore in Urbana, Ill., from Virginia family and friends. Happy birthday also to Faith Baptist Church members Linda Rice, Thomas Clark, Cody Hostetter, Lisa Funkhouser and Courtney Coffey.
Happy anniversary to Collin and Christyna Moore, and to Wyatt and Kyana Reuther.
At Faith Baptist Church, there will be a Men’s Prayer Breakfast this morning at 8. The Faith Baptist Church picnic is coming up on Aug. 10 at Lake Robertson. The Ladies Circle will meet on Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. The church will have a clothes closet on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
At St. John’s Episcopal Church this past Sunday, the Holy Eucharist service was led by the Rev. Dr. Bob Copenhaver. Many thanks to him for leading the service, and to Bert Buford and Josh Gardner for providing music. Thanks also to Gretchen Wilder for hosting and providing refreshments for coffee hour.
This past Saturday, my husband Josh and I went on a short road trip to explore two of West Virginia’s most charming small towns: Union and Ronceverte. We had lunch at the Kalico Kitchen in Union, and then spent the afternoon walking through downtown Ronceverte, visiting Primitive Goods, the Sportsman Tavern (the longest operating tavern in the state, since 1930), and the C&O Railroad Coal Dock.
