A home on Tanbark Lane in western Rockbridge County was destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon, July 20.
Fire and rescue units from Kerrs Creek, Goshen, Rockbridge Baths, Effinger, and Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. to the residence, located off Big Hill Road, according to Rockbridge County Fire Chief Nathan Ramsey.
When the first crews arrived, starting with Effinger, the house was already fully involved. Firefighters remained on scene until around 7 p.m., but the structure was declared a total loss.
The homeowners were not inside at the time of the fire, and no one was injured. They have since made arrangements to stay with family, and Red Cross assistance was not needed, said Ramsey.
