Gun Sweep Hoses, Event Supports RARA

The second annual Guns & Hoses Softball Games, which took place on Tuesday of last week at Virginia Military Institute’s Lamore Field at Gray Minor Stadium, drew more than 500 fans and raised $784 and 310 pounds of donated food for the Rockbridge Area Relief Association, a nonprofit organization that provides temporary assistance to families in times of need. The Guns won both games, 26-2 in the first game and 25-15 in the second one. VMI 1st Sgt. Seth Clark, who organized the event and played for the Guns, said it was “really encouraging to see that many people in the community come out for a good cause.” Clark added that he and the other organizers of the games are in the early stages of trying to set up two memorial scholarships for students at the two local high schools.
