An all-female crew took care of business when a call came in for a recent vehicle fire on Interstate 81 (which can be seen in the bottom photo taken by Lori Hamilton). ABOVE, South River Fire Chief Kelly Jennings, Deputy Chief Pam Whorley and firefighter Emilee Whorley pause for a photo on the shoulder of I-81 after extinguishing the vehicle fire near mile marker 199 on July 12. The crew had just started helping to cook barbecue chicken for the carnival that week when they were dispatched. After knocking down the fire and handling hotspots, they returned to the grill.
