Enrollment Events At Wilson Center

Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) will host a series of summer enrollment events at the new Joe Wilson Workforce Center in Buena Vista, located at 2019 Forest Ave., to help new students get started on the path to career training and higher education.

The Joe Wilson Workforce Center provides hands-on training in high-demand fields such as welding, precision machining, industrial technology, building trades, truck service and diesel technician, CDL, electrical, and plumbing.

In addition to classes at the Joe Wilson Workforce Development Center, students can also enroll in credit and non-credit programs offered at MGCC’s main campus in Clifton Forge and at the new McCormick Building in Buena Vista. Program options include fields such as business, forestry, nursing and liberal arts.

The walk-in events will take place at the Joe Wilson Workforce Center on the following dates: ● Tuesday, July 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. ● Thursday, July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. ● Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These events are first come, first served. No appointment or pre-registration is required.

MGCC advisers will be available on-site to guide students through every step of the enrollment process, from selecting the right program to completing funding applications.

Financial aid staff will also be on hand to walk students through the FAFSA and explore other funding options. To make the most of the visit, MGCC recommends bringing the necessary documents listed at studentaid.gov/articles/ things-you-need-for-fafsa.

Student support staff, veteran support staff, faculty members, and other MGCC representatives will also be in attendance. Program flyers and informational materials will be available for all attendees.
