Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is partnering with Rockbridge County and Buena Vista schools to offer summer physical exams and vaccination clinics that will help families avoid the August appointment crunch.
“Parents often call us in a panic during the last weeks of summer when our appointment slots are already filled up,” said Kerri Stillwell, physician assistant at RAHC. “Getting your child’s physical and shots taken care of now means you can check it off your list early and avoid the back-to-school rush. Plus, your child will be all set for sports tryouts for the entire school year and the first day of school. Why wait and worry when you can call us today and have peace of mind for the rest of the summer?”
RAHC medical teams will provide on-site services at:
• RAHC – Buena Vista, 2127 Magnolia Ave., on July 23, from 1 to 5 p.m.
• Rockbridge Area Health Center, 25 Northridge Lane, Lexington, on July 25 from 1 to 5 p.m.
Note that these locations have changed since the initial announcement of the summer clinics.
These clinics will offer:
• Kindergarten physicals and required vaccinations • Sixth/seventh grade required vaccines (Tdap, HPV, Meningococcal)
• Senior Meningococcal boosters
• Sports physicals
• Camp physicals
• Annual wellness exams These services are open to all school-aged children regardless of RAHC patient status. Each comprehensive appointment includes all required physical measurements, examinations, and immunizations needed to meet Virginia commonwealth requirements.
For student athletes, physicals completed during these clinics remain valid for a full 14 months, providing ample coverage for the entire school year. RAHC will have the required Virginia High School League (VHSL) physical forms on hand and will provide completed forms to students at the conclusion of their physical exam. Plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to complete the necessary paperwork.
RAHC accepts most insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare. A sliding fee discount program is available for those who qualify.
