The Effinger Fire Department will hold its summer barbecue chicken sale at the firehouse on Saturday, July 19, beginning at noon. Chicken halves and whole dinners will be available for purchase. A chicken dinner will include a chicken half, choice of two sides, a roll, applesauce and iced tea. Food items may be purchased as carryout but some seating for indoor dining will be available.
Tickets are available for purchase for the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department’s annual raffle fundraiser. This year’s raffle will have drawings for 26 prizes. The 2025 top prize is $5,000 cash. Books of 12 tickets cost $10, 6 tickets are $5, and the cost of a single ticket is $1. To purchase raffle tickets, contact any fire department member. The raffle drawings will take place at the firehouse on Saturday, July 19. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Rockbridge CAN will hold a free community dinner, professionally catered and served dine-in style at the Palmer Community Center on Wednesday, July 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. Community residents are invited to attend.
The Effinger Ruritan Club has made plans for the 2026 Effinger Community Birthday Calendar. The cost of the calendar is $4. Birthday, anniversary and memorial listings are 35 cents each. Calendars and listings may be purchased by contacting a Ruritan Club member.
The Palmer Ice Cream Supper, sponsored by the Effinger Ruritan Club, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Palmer Community Center. Musical entertainment, good food and lots of delicious homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors will be available for purchase. The Effinger Ruritan Club looks forward to welcoming patrons to this annual community event.
