High Bridge Presbyterian Church welcomed the Rev. Marina Gopadze, retired pastor of Buchanan Presbyterian, as guest pastor this past Sunday. The Rev. Willis and family were attending wife Amy’s family reunion in Florida.

Visitors at church were Daniel and Hannah Gilbert and son Henry who visited Daniel’s mom, Kathy Gilbert, for the Fourth of July. Other visitors were Peggy Thrasher of Buchanan and Suzanne Tolley, of Roanoke who was visiting her mother, Gayle Tolley.

Daryl and Cheryl Dameron enjoyed a week of visiting with their family and then another week with family at the beach.

Dane and Sheryl West enjoyed a visit from their grandchildren from Baltimore, Md., for several days during the holidays.

Visiting Jane Shafer recently were nieces Sandra Watts and Susan McKnight. Jane’s daughters Brenda Shafer and Cathy Ayers joined the two, along with Linda Walker and Doris Hedrick, and traveled on an Abbott bus tour to Seattle, Wash. There they toured national parks and then boarded a cruise ship for a weeklong cruise in Alaska. They traveled a total of 21 days.

The Presbyterian Women’s afternoon and evening circles will not meet in July.

Vacation Bible school will be held at Cave Mountain Lake on Saturday, July 19.

The food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 and close at 11 a.m. The High Bridge congregation is collecting canned vegetables for the food pantry in June.
