Parry McCluer High School senior third baseman Oliva Julian was named to the Class 1 all-state softball first team on June 22.
Also a pitcher, Julian helped the Fighting Blues go 5-13 overall and 3-2 in the Pioneer District. The Blues, under the direction of 11th-year head coach Troy Clark, finished second in the district and ended their season with a 12-1 loss to Fort Chiswell in the Region 1C quarterfinals.
Julian will continue her academic and softball career at West Virginia University Potomac State College, a Division II junior college in Keyser, W. Va.
