Two Rockbridge County High School girls lacrosse players, Anna Nye and Lola Mulitalo, were recently named U.S. Lacrosse All Americans.
Nye, a sophomore midfielder, was the Region 4D player of the year and was previously selected to the Virginia High School League Class 4 all-state first team. This season, Nye scored her 100th career goal and collected her 100th ground ball.
Mulitalo, a junior attacker, was also previously named to the all-state first team. Mulitalo broke the RC career goal-scoring record earlier this season before dishing out her 100th career assist in the Wildcats’ 23-6 Class 4 state quarterfinal win over Powhatan on June 6.
This is the first year the Wildcats have had players named U.S. All Americans.
Under the direction of seventh- year head coach Susan Nye, the Region 4D coach of the year, the Wildcats went 15-3, earning a 15-12 home win over Powhatan in the Class 4 state semifinals before falling to Western Albemarle 14-4 in the state championship game in Charlottesville. It was the third consecutive state title for Western, which defeated the Wildcats in the last two state title games.
