Glasgow

Carolyn Bradley, (540) 258-2720

Even though the weather looked iffy on Saturday evening, it turned out to be a nice night for music with Southpaw, at Locher Pavilion in Glasgow. My sources tell me a nice crowd was on hand to enjoy the music and food provided by the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department and Holy Cow Ice Cream.

Mike and Carolyn Bradley took part as vendors in the “Hope for Daisy” benefit sponsored by Savvy Events at Valley View Mall this past Sunday. Daisy is a 4-yearold from Roanoke who was recently diagnosed with a rare incurable cancer. Miss Daisy, her parents, younger sister and other relatives were present for the event.

Have you experienced the June bug invasion? Early in June I saw a few flying around, usually ended up in our pool, and pool skimmer. The last few days we have had swarms of them all over the yard and flying into the house.

Glasgow Baptist Church continues to have Sunday morning worship services, Wednesday evening prayer meetings, but no Sunday school hour while the bathrooms on the main floor are being remodeled to make them handicap accessible. The only working bathrooms are located in the basement area. The work is expected to take a few weeks to complete.

The Farmers Market is still seeking vendors with baked goods, jams, jellies, honey, etc., and especially those who can provide garden veggies and fruits. There is no fee to set up this season. Sit under a cool pavilion and enjoy the company. Contact the manager at (540) 5700919, and follow them on Facebook.

Former resident and teacher Martha Ramer, who now lives in a facility in Williamsburg, was in the area, along with two of her nieces, and enjoyed a meal and visit with some old friends at Applebee’s last week. Attending from Glasgow were Larry and Barbara Owens, Rhonda Rogers, Isaiah Ezell, Mackenzie Camden and Carolyn Bradley.
