Freedom Food Festival Returning

The Freedom Food Festival returns to downtown Lexington next Thursday, July 3, from 5 to 10 p.m.

Lexington’s Main Street will once again be converted into a community street and music festival featuring live music, beer and wine sales, desserts, kids’ meals and a tasty Fourth of July-style cook-off competition. Admission is free, and the event takes place rain or shine.

The festival’s music and stage are arranged by Lime Kiln Theater and will feature music from Boy Named Banjo, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley and The Wilson Springs Hotel.

Meal tickets may be purchased online at https:// freedomfoodfestival.com. Advance meal tickets cost $20, and reserved tables cost $300. Meal tickets will cost $25 on the day of the event.

The cook-off competition pairs area non-profit organizations with local chefs and kitchens. This year’s pairings and offerings include:

• Community Table of Rockbridge with Lexington Catering Company

• ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice with Lexington Catering Company

• Friends of Natural Bridge State Park with C.H.E.F.S. Catering

• Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity with Lexington Mercantile

• Rockbridge County High School Baseball Team with Pure Eats

• Rockbridge SPCA with Devils Backbone Brewing Company

• Vet First, Inc. with Sweet Treats

• Yellow Brick Road Early Learning Center with Hog Back Mountain

• Kid’s Meals from Hull’s Angels, Inc.

• Desserts from Friends of Rockbridge Swimming, Inc.

Additionally, alcohol will be available for purchase at participating restaurants for both inside and outside consumption within the designated outdoor refreshment area.

Participating restaurants include Brew Ridge Taps, Haywood’s, Heliotrope Brewery, Juniper Lounge, Pronto Caffé and Gelateria, Southern Inn Restaurant and TAPS.

The Freedom Food Festival is presented by the Lexington- Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, Lexington and Rockbridge Area Tourism and Main Street Lexington.
