Wishing everyone a very happy summer! It’s not my favorite season; I prefer much colder temperatures. Remember to stay cool and hydrated as best you can throughout this current heat wave.
Sending birthday wishes to my awesome dad, Roger Brown, and to Omar Martinez, Melba Porter, Andrea Peterson and Dr. Glenn Tabor Jr., as well as to Faith Baptist Church members Brenda Watkins and Wilmer Watkins, and to St. John’s Episcopal Church members Lynn Williams and Nancy Stikes. Happy anniversary to Faith Baptist members John and Marlene Branch.
At Faith Baptist Church, there will be a Men’s Prayer Breakfast this morning at 8.
At St. John’s Episcopal Church this past Sunday, the Holy Eucharist service was led by the Rev. Dr. Chip Prehn. Many thanks to him for leading the service, and to Bert Buford, Josh Gardner and Courtney VanOsten for providing music.
Angela Watkins visited the Peaks of Otter on Father’s Day, in honor and memory of her father, William “Bill” Watkins, who died in 2017 at the age of 92. Bill loved nature, especially picnicking at the Peaks and walking around Abbott Lake. He enjoyed going up on Sharp Top, hiking to Johnson’s Farm and traveling the Parkway.
