Nearly 250 motorcyclists have registered for the 2025 Virginia Legacy Run this weekend. The event will run from Thursday June 19 through Saturday June 21.
The event begins with a safety check Thursday evening at the Natural Bridge Hotel. The Friday and Saturday rides will begin at 8 a.m. from Natural Bridge State Park. Routes have been scheduled for stops for gas and lunch.
Donations raised for the event will go towards the American Legion Veterans and Children Foundation. The foundation provides military and veteran parents with grants to cover unexpected financial hardships, such as housing and food.
The event first began seven years ago to raise money for The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for higher education to children of veterans. In 2024, riders helped raise $121,000 for the fund. The success of previous events has motivated event organizers to promote a new cause.
The 2025 ride will officially begin with a lineup on Friday morning at 7 a.m. Riders will depart at 8 a.m. and head south towards Buchanan. Riders will stop in Covington for lunch provided by the Covington Moose Lodge. They will head back to Lexington around 4:45 where dinner will be provided by Mission BBQ at Natural Bridge State Park.
The Saturday ride will also depart at 8 a.m. and head towards Waynesboro. Riders will stop by Devil’s Backbone for lunch. They will then head back to Natural Bridge State Park in Lexington. Dinner will be provided by Siler Trucking.
All motorcyclists pay their own expenses. A Parade of Presentations to the American Legion Department Commander Gene Malinowski will follow the event’s completion.
