Parade Preferred To RiotsJune

15, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: I grew up watching TV documentaries about our troops returning to parades and celebrations after World War I and World War II. Unfortunately, those Korean War veterans and troops who served in Vietnam came home only to be ignored or even spit on.

Watching the Army 250th birthday parade, I was proud that the men and women who serve in our military were honored in a long overdue event. Sadly, my husband’s brother Chuck, a Korean War veteran and three of his friends who died in Vietnam and other friends who have since passed away that served in these wars and military missions since missed the event Saturday.

With a daughter serving in the Army, I enjoyed seeing the public response in DC of patriotism by the large crowds on hand for the parade and evening events.

Sadly, the day, Flag Day and the 250th Anniversary of the Army, had to be marred by silly No King Democrat organized and promoted protests. America had only one real “No King Day” and that was July 4, 1776. Democrats claiming Trump is a wannabe king is rich considering he ran nationwide to earn the Republican nomination and went on to win the presidency winning overwhelmingly both the popular vote and the electoral college vote. Unlike the Democrats and media who lied to us about Biden’s mental and health issues and then anointed Harris and Walz rather than hold primaries to run for the office.

It was a welcome change to see Americans proud of their country instead of nightly riots by illegal immigrants and their supporters waving foreign flags in Los Angeles and other cities. As one proud American, thank you to all who have served and are currently serving in our nation’s military and also to those working to remove the criminals and violent individuals that illegally were let in unvetted by the previous administration.
