The town of Glasgow celebrated Juneteenth at the Thompson Community center this past Saturday. The annual commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States also included a dedication of the town’s new pavilion. Dave Van Osten and Preston Sledd (TOP LEFT) were recognized for their part in bringing the new pavilion to a reality and were asked to cut the ribbon at the pavilion’s official opening. (TOP RIGHT) musicians from Union Baptist Church provided musical entertainment Saturday. The Men’s Chorus from Union Baptist (AT FAR LEFT) was also on hand. (AT IMMEDIATE LEFT), Marquita Dunn and Reginald Early, pastor of Randolph Street Methodist Church, spoke on behalf of the local chapter of the NAACP.
