The “All Aboard for Wonder Junction” vacation Bible school had a successful week at the Palmer Community Center. This year’s VBS had an average nightly attendance of 80 children and adults. A closing exercise was held on Thursday, June 12, for all participants and their families. Classes shared scripture and songs they had learned during the week and were recognized with certificates of attendance. The Gideons presented each child with a personal copy of the New Testament. Following the closing, a covered-dish dinner was enjoyed by all in attendance. VBS participants also conducted a penny challenge raising $846 to assist the Appalachian Community Relief Center in Black Mountain, N.C. The community churches sponsoring this year’s VBS were Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and the Rapps Mill Church.

To celebrate Father’s Day and show appreciation for all fathers, the Collierstown Presbyterian Women with the help of the church’s children presented all the fathers in attendance with work gloves. The Christian Education committee also recognized the church’s fathers and hosted “Donuts for Dads” in the fellowship hall following the worship service for all to enjoy.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery Committee has announced effective July 1, the cost for cemetery spaces will increase to $400 each for members and $1000 each for nonmembers.
