Childcare Resource ‘Hub’ Launched

A Rockbridge County Childcare Resource Hub has been created so people can go online and find out about local childcare options.

The Hub, explained Conor Mitts, administrative specialist with the Rockbridge County Office of Economic Development, “is designed as a one-stop online platform where families can find local providers, financial assistance programs and helpful parenting and early education resources. Childcare providers can also access business tools, grant opportunities and training resources. We see the Hub as both a practical tool and a signal of our commitment to addressing this issue head-on.”

Mitts said that the Hub “was created in direct response to the findings of the Rockbridge Area Childcare Needs Assessment, which identified critical challenges in childcare availability, affordability and accessibility. One of the key strategies developed from that assessment was establishing a centralized platform where families and providers could easily find and share information. The Hub delivers on that vision, offering a wide range of tools and resources designed to support par ents, childcare professionals and employers.

“We recognize that improving childcare in our area requires long-term effort and collaboration – and while the Hub is just one part of the solution, it’s an important step forward. By raising awareness and making it easier for families and providers to connect, we hope to foster a more supportive environment for early childhood development in Rockbridge County.”

Mitts noted that the office of economic development has also launched an online Business Resource Guides page.

“These guides provide valuable information for entrepreneurs and local business owners, including how to start a business, funding opportunities and workforce development resources. It’s another step toward building a stronger, more resilient local economy by supporting those who create jobs and services in our community.

“To complement these selfguided resources, businesses can also take advantage of our Business Assistance program, which allows them to request direct help based on their specific needs – whether it’s navigating permits, finding grants or connecting with local support networks.”
