Rachel Clark, (630)
That’s a wrap for another week of Vacation Bible School at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church! A great group of kids enjoyed a delicious dinner each night followed by the opportunity to be the “live studio audience” for a cooking show featuring the silly antics of chefs Casey and Rachel Clark. The kids sang three songs each night that they then shared with their families during the concluding night: “This is the Day,” “O Taste and See,” and “Never Once.” Then the kids divided up into three age groups for activities, crafts and lessons, all focused on the theme that God provides. For crafts, the kids baked cookies, made a jar of cookie dough ingredients to share with someone, and painted aprons and tea towels. The lessons included learning about “manna,” how Jesus is the bread of heaven, and how Jesus broke bread with his disciples and taught us to remember that God provides. A huge thank you to all the amazing volunteers who made this such a wonderful week. There were 13 teen helpers who participated and a large group of adults who worked on kitchen crew, checked in kids and led groups, lessons, games and crafts.
Sunday was Pentecost Sunday and we give praise for the work the Holy Spirit does in us, among us and with us. Thank you to the choir for singing “Holy Manna” during Sunday’s service as well as for the VBS kids and praise team for singing the songs they learned. Sunday began a time of Sabbatical rest for the Clarks. Please be in prayer for Casey and Rachel and the family as well as the whole congregation. Pray for all of the lay leaders and ministers who will fill in on Sundays and other members of the church who will be carrying on other church duties. Thank you to Tim Welsh for leading a special time of prayer for the Clarks and the church.
A fellowship meal was shared in Duff hall after the worship service. Thanks to all who provided yummy side dishes and desserts!
