Approximately 100 children and adults attended the opening of “All Aboard for Wonder Junction” vacation Bible school on Sunday, June 8, at the Palmer Community Center. The community’s churches are hosting this year’s VBS nightly from 5:30 to 8 p.m. through tomorrow, Thursday, June 12. Classes are available for all ages and adults. Supper will be provided nightly. Families and area residents are invited to come and enjoy Bible study, crafts, recreation and fellowship with friends and neighbors. VBS participants are conducting a penny challenge to raise funds to assist the Appalachian Community Relief Center in Black Mountain, N.C. Those churches assisting with this year’s VBS are Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and the Rapps Mill Church.
The Collierstown Presbyterian Church has begun the summer season with “lemonade on the lawn” following the 11 a.m. morning worship hour. Members of the church family and guests are invited to enjoy lemonade, a sweet treat and warm fellowship with congregation members after worship.
On Sunday, June 15, the Christian Education Committee will be providing “Donuts for Dads’ in celebration of Father’s
Day.
The Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery Committee has announced effective July 1, the cost for cemetery spaces will increase to $400 each for members and $1000 each for non-members.
