On Saturday, June 14, Rockbridge County residents are invited to gather at Hopkins Green, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a “No Kings” Rally. Along with hundreds of thousands of people in thousands of cities and towns across the country, they will participate in a nationwide effort to assert and celebrate the rule of law as set forth in our nation’s founding documents.
The rally will feature speakers, poetry and song and will be conducted in a peaceful, non-violent manner. Community members are encouraged to bring folding chairs, water bottles, umbrellas and pro democracy/anti autocracy signs. To honor Flag Day and patriotism, participants will receive an American flag.
The Lexington rally is organized by a partnership between Hearts for Democracy and 50 Ways Rockbridge. Grounded in the spirit of “We the People,” this rally is for everyone who believes in liberty, checks and balances, and a government accountable to its citizens.
