A two-vehicle crash on East Midland Trail in Rockbridge County Wednesday resulted in one death and two injuries.
Melodie Vohar, 78, of Lakeland, FL, died at the scene of the accident which occurred just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of East Midland Trail and Memorial Lane. The Virginia State Police reported in a press release that Vohar was driving a 2018 Jaguar XF and failed to yield the right-of-way while entering East Midland Trail from the Poplar Hill Exxon station and her vehicle was struck by a 2012 Honda Civic traveling east on Midland Trail.
Vohar was wearing her seatbelt, as was her 78-year-old male passenger, who was not injured. The 19-year-old female driver and 24-year-old male passenger of the Honda Civic were not wearing seatbelts. Both sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
