La Leche League To Meet Tuesday

Bringing a new nursing baby into the family is the theme for the Tuesday, June 10, meeting of the La Leche League.

The meeting will be held at Grace Episcopal Church at 123 W. Washington St., Lexington, in the second floor Canterbury Room, accessible via the elevator in the back of the church. Only street parking is available.

A baby can be a major life transition for many couples. Mother-to-mother support is the hallmark of LLL where mothers share their wisdom under the guidance of veteran leaders who have breastfed their own babies and have special training to help with trickier problems and challenges, said a spokeswoman.

LLL meetings provide a forum to ask questions and share with other moms about baby’s hunger cues, how to know the baby is getting enough milk, strategies to prevent sore nipples or engorgement of the early weeks. Adequate calorie consumption is of utmost importance in those early weeks and knowing a tried and true method to assess builds confidence. Questions are encouraged and honored regardless.

Meetings are free and open to all pregnant and nursing families where babies and children are welcome. A free lending library is available with books covering a wide range of parenting topics. Snacks will be provided.
