For Your Consideration

The history of American political parties is one of ebb and flow of support for the parties of the time. Early in American history the Federalist Party was a major political force especially in the northern states. Then came the War of 1812. America saw her sailors being taken off American ships and forced into the British Navy and claims Britain was encouraging and aiding Indians in the Ohio River area to attack American settlements resulted in America to declare war on Britain.

The war did not go well for America as the British even took over Washington, D.C., and burned the White House and other government buildings and were only stopped at Fort McHenry from doing the same to Baltimore — an action we sing about in our National Anthem.

The states of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and Connecticut sent representatives to the latter state for what was supposed to be a secret meeting called the Hartford Convention in December 1814 into January 1815. The secret meeting was anything but secret. Newspapers of the time covered the discussions and adopted resolutions that at first just condemned President Madison and his administration for being too powerful and threatening their state rights.

From protesting the war, resolutions began to call for the states to secede from the United States and form their own new country or become a part of Canada. It was reported in newspapers that the Harford Convention even sent delegates to negotiate terms of surrender with British officials.

Madison was so concerned he called for troops to be organized in case the states the delegates represented did try to leave the country or join the enemy, but the force was not needed as the War of 1812 ended in early 1815.

Delegates to the Hartford Convention were primarily members of the Federalist Party. As a result of the convention, the Federalist Party lost a lot of public support and was never again to elect a president or have much political power before fading from the political landscape.

Today, the Democrats are facing unexpected crisis of leadership because of the last election and what is coming to be known about Biden’s mental capacity being ignored and even covered up by certain news media and political officials.

Democrats are quick to say it is time to move on instead of finding out just who was running the country and to take steps to prevent it from happening again. This is not the first time questions of a president’s mental and physical ability have been kept from the public.

After World War I, Woodrow Wilson had a stoke that left him bedridden and it is now believed his wife was running the White House and even secretly making presidential decisions for the ailing president.

Franklin Roosevelt was in terrible health, but this was kept from the public by politicians and compliant news media. He was to die less than a year after being reelected for a fourth term. As a result, a president is now limited to two terms.

President Eisenhower was to suffer two heart attacks but recovered and lived for many years after his two terms as president but did cause concern about presidential health.

John Kennedy was long plagued with health issues including Addison disease, but political and media officials kept his health issues and drug use secret.

Questions of Biden’s mental health have now expanded to questions about his physical health. At the time books on his mental condition were becoming major news stories, it was announced he was suffering from prostate cancer — the stage at which he is at would indicate he had cancer for about five years which has resulted in questions as why it was only detected now.

Biden said he had cancer in a speech several months prior to public knowledge of him having any cancer issues but soon after it was announced he had a minor case of skin cancer being successfully treated which has now led to even more questions of his health condition and what the public was being told.

Books that have come out have claimed many of Biden’s signed proclamations, laws, and pardons were signed with an autopen, a machine that writes a copy of the person’s signature. Which has caused questions are the laws, pardons, and proclamations being legal and even questions; did Biden even know about them? Some writers have written his wife and/or Hunter Biden were actually acting in the president’s role?

The Democrat Party, instead of being concerned about the issues about Biden’s condition and the political and media supported to cover up his failings, seems to want the public to ignore it all and just move on.

Clearly, if Democrats continue to try to cover up what happened and support unpopular views like defending criminals and gang members illegally in the country from deportation; transgenders destroying women’s sports; opposing efforts to cut waste, fraud and abuse; condemning violent anti-Jewish protests on campus and the fire-bombing and vandalism of Tesla cars and dealerships; and killing and physical assaults on certain people, could they be moving toward going the way of the 19th century Federalist Party?

Some thoughts for your consideration.
