Blues Fall To Eastern Montgomery In District Softball Finals, 10-1

The Parry McCluer High School softball team suffered a 10-1 road loss to Eastern Montgomery in the Pioneer District championship game on Wednesday evening in Elliston.

Top seed Eastern Montgomery (10-6 overall, 5-0 district), which had defeated the second-seeded Fighting Blues (5-13, 3-2) decisively in both regular-season meetings, raced to a 7-0 lead in the first two innings and stayed comfortably ahead for the rest of the game.

PM scored its lone run in the top of the fifth when Logan Vest singled on a hard grounder to left field to bring home Kinleigh Wallace.

Samantha Brein led the Mustangs with three hits and had two RBIs, while Macie Akers and Rena Chandler each recorded two hits for EM.

Alysa Wheeler paced the Blues with two hits, while Vest, Wallace and Kendall Painter.

Mary Miller pitched a complete game for EM to earn the win, striking out four while allowing five hits, one walk and one earned run.

Pitching a complete game for the Blues was Wheeler, striking out one while surrendering eight hits, four walks and 10 runs, five of them earned.

PM committed three errors, while EM had one.
