Former Lexington High School track star Jimmy Macheras helped lead Otterbein College to first place during the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship at Baldwin-Wallace College. Macheras won the 100 yard dash in 9.6 seconds, tying the OAC championship record. - Gracie Chittum was celebrated at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church. At 97, she was the oldest living member of the church. - Guy Harris of Vesuvius killed 35 copperheads that he found in South River. The snakes were all killed by a shotgun.

A Washington and Lee University student was walking through the area of Furrs Mill and Greenhouse Road when he was attacked by two assailants who had been hiding in the shadows. He was sprayed in the face by either pepper spray or chemical mace and then was struck on the face and head. - Two sets of twin girls were born at Stonewall Jackson Hospital on the same day, a real rarity according to Prenatal Services Director Tracy Higgins, who said only three sets of twins were born in the hospital the year before.
