Day Named Next Kendal CEO

Kendal at Lexington has announced that Adam Day will be the facility’s new chief executive officer, effective June 2.

With over 20 years of executive leadership experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge in operations management, strategic planning and fostering vibrant communities, said a spokesperson.

He will succeed Felicia Bush, who has been the interim CEO since the departure of Jan Bigelow in December. Bigelow had served as CEO since May 2020.

Bush will now return to her full-time role as chief financial officer, a position she has held since August 2006.

Pam Luecke, chair of the Kendal at Lexington board of directors, shared her enthusiasm for the new leadership, stating, “Adam brings a thorough grounding in the operations of today’s senior living communities and an appreciation for the strategic opportunities that lie ahead. He embraces the Quaker values on which the Kendal System is founded and is passionate about working with employees, residents and the board to help Kendal at Lexington flourish. The board and I are excited to welcome Adam as we embark on Kendal’s next 25 years.”

Vassar Byrd, CEO of the Kendal Corporation, added, “We are thrilled to welcome Adam to the Kendal family. His enthusiasm, strategic experience and commitment to building strong relationships will be pivotal as Kendal at Lexington looks toward the future.”

Day previously served as vice president of operations at Beaumont at Bryn Mawr in Pennsylvania, where he successfully aligned operational strategies, drove impactful renovations and developed long-term capital plans. His past roles also include director of facility operations and strategic development at Foxdale Village in Pennsylvania, where he co-facilitated strategic planning efforts and managed innovative community partnerships.

“I am thrilled to join Kendal at Lexington, a community that exemplifies care, respect and a commitment to excellence,” Day said. “I am honored by the opportunity to listen to and collaborate with residents, staff and the board of directors as we continue to innovate and grow together on the beautiful campus.”
