Appalachian Documentary Screened At Library

Rockbridge Regional Library and MidMountain Artists Collective will host a screening of a documentary film by Frederick D. Murphy, titled “Indelible Appalachians” at the library on Thursday, May 15, at 5:30 p.m.

The film documents experiences of Black Appalachians and unveils the complex interplay of race, identity, and geography, while celebrating the impact of Black Appalachians on the region’s culture.

Murphy founded History Before Us, an organization committed to preserving stories from the past and to the belief that history is a lens for putting experiences into perspective and that historical knowledge provides a background for making solid decisions in the future. After the film, attendees will have an opportunity to interact with the filmmaker via online session.

MidMountain Artists Collective provides support for arts programming and professional creative development. They offer retreats at 338 Arnolds Valley Road Natural Bridge Station. Learn more at www.midmountain. org.
