Thursday, May 8 -- The Rockbridge County High School team ran its winning streak to eight games with a 20-7 victory over E.C. Glass on Senior Night in Lexington.
Six different Wildcats registered at least three points in the contest as RC improved to 9-2 overall. Anna Nye tallied four goals, two assists and 17 draw controls for the 'Cats, while Emma McKnight and Ruby Goodhart each finished with two goals and four assists. Emma Johnson had three goals and two assists for RC, with Josie Caldwell and Brianna Roberts also notching hat tricks.
Kate Lasitter paced the Hilltoppers (6-5) with two goals, one assist, three draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.
The Wildcats scored the first four goals of the game, taking a 4-0 advantage on McKnight's 8-meter conversion at the 5:36 mark of the first quarter. Leading 7-2 midway through the second period, RC reeled off the final four markers of the first half to carry an 11-2 cushion into the break. Goodhart's goal with 9:09 to go in the third period activated the running clock at 12-2, and the Wildcats' lead never dipped below 10 for the rest of the night.
Alyssa Hunter recorded six saves between the pipes for RC, and Caitie Carrington posted two caused turnovers. Nadia Gaydos, Elizabeth McCormick and Tadara Cooper chipped in one goal apiece, and McKnight also secured two draw controls.
Alexa Perdieu tallied three caused turnovers to lead the Glass defense, and Anna Waterworth posted seven saves. Alexandra Petty had one goal and three draw controls for the Hilltoppers.
Prior to the game, the Wildcats honored their seven seniors: Caldwell, Carrington, Hunter, McCormick, Roberts, London Garrett and Emily Humphreys.
RC is slated to visit Jefferson Forest for a 7 p.m. contest on Monday.
