A heavy load of concrete septic tanks fell off a truck and onto a strip of road north of Buena Vista, partially blocking traffic until the wreckage was cleared. - Rockbridge County wool brought the highest price in the state at the annual sealed bid auction of wool pools at Cloverdale. The joint August-Rockbridge wool pool of 125,000 pounds was bought by Donahue-Draper Corp. of Boston, Mass. - The Thrift Shop operated by the Stonewall Jackson Hospital Auxiliary was making the big move from the R.E. Lee Hotel to 123 W. Nelson St.

The financing agreement for the new courts complex was approved by both the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors and Lexington City Council. - The Buena Vista Public Facilities Authority approved the sale of approximately 10 acres adjacent to the Vista Links golf course in Buena Vista to HRW LLC, a locally owned development Corporation for $250,000. The site would soon be home to a single family and multi-family housing development.
