The County Council of Garden Clubs’ annual spring plant sale returns to Hopkins Green in downtown Lexington this Saturday, May 10.
It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon – rain or shine.
Each year (now over 20 years) the five clubs set up booths for area residents to find various items to purchase.
The members of the clubs will be selling plants from their local gardens, including annuals, perenniels, houseplants and herbs. There may also be tools, books, baked goods, and bouquets for Mother’s Day A new feature this year is that each club has its own-colored price tag. “We want the public to get to know each club and decide to join a club,” said a spokeswoman.
The proceeds cover the cost of all the hanging baskets in downtown Lexington, which will also be hung in May.
MEMBERS of the Natural Bridge Garden Club have been outfitted in new green aprons just in time for the annual plant sale. Members include (left, up the stairs) Ann Nay, Sharon Littlepage, Maureen Becker, Judith Wycoff, (front row) Anna-Lisa Fitzgerald, Pat Gibson, Beth Owermohle, Irene Condie, Virginia Cooke, (second row) Carla Zorn, Sandee Greene, Rosanne Facciolo, Doris Fredricksen, Vicki Goodhart, (back row) tiny guest Esther Fitzgerald with former NBGC member Donna Welch, Mary Wheeler, Leslie Giles, Carolyn Kuper, Diane Weaver, Diane Harrell and Jennifer Young.
