Citizens of all ages gathered at Oak Grove Cemetery on Thursday, April 26, with Lexington public works to plant trees in celebration of Arbor Day. Children from the Boomerang Gang homeschool co-op joined community volunteers to dig holes and pat down soil around newly planted saplings. Ray Ulrich, Lexington’s city arborist (bottom right), Dave Agnor with the Rockbridge Area Master Gardeners (below) and Markus Ruley (at right) with public works were among those guiding the planting. Five native Dogwood trees were planted to replace two that have died and three that are failing. (photos by Scotty Dransfield)
